Polish-German Barometer 2018 Poles and Germans about their countries and European policies

Place:
Centrum Zielna, ul.Zielna 37, Warszawa
The governments of Poland and Germany differ in their ideas about how to further shape the European policy.  At the same time, both societies strongly support their countries' membership in the EU. However, the current policy and the debates taking place in both states do affect the way in which the citizens assess the actions undertaken by the government of the neighbouring state.
A few days before the European summit where the future reforms of the European Union will be discussed, we invite you to the presentation of the second part of this year's edition of 2018 Poland-Germany Barometer (the results of Part 1 are available here), which looks at the mutual perception of the European policy.  We will comment on the results with German experts who have been watching the actions of Berlin at the EU level.
2018 Poland-Germany Barometer brings answers to the following questions:
  • Do Poles and Germans wish for  deeper European integration or do they believe that it has already gone too far?
  • How do both societies assess the European policy of the other country?
  • Is Germany too domineering in the EU in the opinion of Poles?
  • Is the Polish government still a reliable partner in Europe in the eyes of Germans?
  • Do Poles fear or expect the strengthening of the German army?

“Poland-Germany Barometer“ is a project which regularly collects and publishes opinions of Poles and Germans about the condition of the Polish-German relations and about the current challenges. The Institute of Public Affairs has been conducting this research since 2000 in cooperation with the Office of the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung in Poland. In the years 2013 and 2016 the study was also conducted in cooperation with the Bertelsmann Foundation. In 2018 the partner of the research project has been the Körber Foundation.

The Project has been implemented with the financial support of the Foundation for Polish-German Cooperation.
