The issue of gender equality in Poland has been a subject of many studies. However, no analyses have been conducted concerning the presence of women in the Polish foreign policy. The Institute of Public Affairs together with the Heinrich Böll Foundation in Warsaw have carried out a research project devoted to this issue. It involved an analysis of the data showing the number and the positions held by women who give shape to the Polish foreign policy (understood as including also the security and the European policies) and carrying out twenty seven individual in-depth interviews with women representing the following groups:
- female politicians who deal with foreign policy and (or) European policy directly in their work; - female diplomats and central and local government officials; - female experts at state and non-state universities and other research and analysis centres; - female journalists who specialise in this field.
