GREENET  Fast forwarding the green transition in a just and socially responsible way – cases of industry, energy, and  transport sectors

Activities:
The aim of the project is to strengthen the capacity of the social partners in the energy, industry and transport sectors and their involvement in the European social dialogue in order to ensure, in the face of challenges regarding energy security and the impacts of COVID-19, that the transition to a climate-neutral economy is socially just and affordable for all European workers and citizens. The project activities cover Bulgaria, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Slovakia, Spain, Portugal and North Macedonia, Serbia and Turkey.

Project duration: July 2023-February 2025

In the first phase, a study will be carried out on the impact of green transition policies on employment and working conditions of three sectors: industry, energy and transport. The fieldwork includes interviews with representatives of sectoral workers' and employers' organisations, an online survey of workers and an analysis of collective agreement provisions. The results will be published in national reports and a comparative report.
This will be followed by a workshop on green dialogue in collective bargaining for each of the three industries. During the workshop, employee and employer representatives, supported by experts from the Institute of Public Affairs, will develop a new strategic framework for action at national and European level.

The project is implemented by a partnership of trade unions and employers’ organisations of the countries involved, in co-operation with European level social partner organisations: ETUC, IndustriALL and Business Europe. The project leader is the General Workers Union from Malta.
