After the escalation of the war on Ukrainian territory, many institutions launched special programmes to support Ukrainian refugees - from preparing information in Ukrainian to dedicated events (Ukrainian language versions of film screenings, guided city walks, guided tours of exhibitions, translations of obligatory Polish literature for school children, organising libraries with Ukrainian literature section, etc.).
Our previous project “Ukrainian Artists-Freelancers on the Polish Labour Market” implemented thanks to funding from the Foundation for Polish-German Cooperation within the dedicated grant path "Bridges of the Future. Poland and Germany for Ukraine” concerned the employment and employability of Ukrainian female artists in the refugee context. Continuing this topic, 2 years after the outbreak of the war, we will examine the Ukrainian women’s participation in the broadly understood culture in Poland and their cultural practices. We will investigate which of their socio-cultural needs are still not met. We will also create educational and informational materials in the form of podcasts that will promote the entrepreneurship and cultural & artistic activism of refugee women from Ukraine. In this way, we want to promote the positive image of the entrepreneurial and creative refugee women in Polish society and facilitate networking between communities.
In the autumn, we will publish the project research report and organise a webinar.
Project duration: August-October 2024.
The project is implemented by the Institute of Public Affairs, the Goethe-Institut and the Foundation for Polish-German Cooperation.
