The Institute of Public Affairs will assist Georgia in moving towards a visa-free regime

The Institute of Public Affairs with the support of the Ministry of the Foreign Affairs will realize the project focused on the management of migration policy in Georgia. The aim of the project is to improve the quality of state policy in the field of border and migration control in order to fulfil the conditions of visa-free regime.

- IPA has broad  experience in realizing similar projects. We have recently implemented project focused on the control of migration movements in Ukraine. The present project complies with the initiatives of the Eastern Partnership, aimed at increasing ability of UE neighbours (such as Georgia) to reduce the scope of the illegal migration, strengthening border controls and undertaking more systematic approach to question of destination and transit migration – said Justyna Frelak, head of the Migration and Development Policy Program at IPA.

Project will last from May to December 2011.
