Open letter to the Ministry of National Education of Poland

The Institute of Public Affairs signed an open letter to the Ministry of National Education of Poland according the current situation of students with migration experience during the epidemiological state in the country.

The lockdown  of schools and continuation of learning through remote classes significantly impedes the situation of students with migrant background, especially children and youth staying in asylum centres, in meeting the requirements of the core curriculum, qualitative acquisition of compulsory subjects and possibility of learn Polish as a foreign/second language.

Omitting their needs in adapting educational materials to distance education, and not sufficient support for teachers, deprives students with migration experience of possibility to benefit from right to education in Poland and has a significant impact on further integration.

Social organizations, representatives of educational institutions and local municipalities call for applying the systemic solutions and elaborating educational materials, which will include the core curriculum and the language learning, adapted to the conditions of online education and the needs of students with migration experience.

Thank you to the Center for Migration Research Foundation for the initiative!
