All shades of telework – transferability workshops in Warsaw
We already know a lot about telework in Europe. The Institute of Public Affairs (ISP) has conducted an extensive study on the subject in Poland as part of the international TWING project 'Exploring the contribution of social dialogue and collective bargaining in the promotion of decent and productive telework in the post-Covid scenario'.
Last Friday (21 June 2024), we hosted social partners and experts from Spain and Poland at the Institute of Public Affairs to discuss the transferability of practical experiences between the two countries on teleworking. The Spanish side was represented by experts from our project partner NOTUS (Barcelona) and representatives of Comisiones Obreras from the pharmaceutical and banking sectors, while the Polish side was represented by ISP experts and representatives of the Workers' Initiative from the ICT sector and NZZPBiU "Dialog 2005" from the banking sector.
Although the contexts of collective labour relations are clearly different in the two countries, workers' problems seem to be similar: balancing life and work, adapting the workplace according to health and safety rules, sharing the costs of telework between employer and employees, etc. Best practices were also presented that could find their application in other sectors.
In the coming weeks, we will be working on elaboration of an analytical report that will describe the details of the best practices, as well as the opportunities and barriers to transferring these experiences between countries and different sectors.
