Institute of Public Affairs and Friedrich Ebert Foundation along with a pan-European network of think tanks European Policy Institutes Network (EPIN) cordially invite you to the debate
This time, the election campaign for the European Parliament is taking place more dynamically throughout Europe than five or ten years ago. The populists and their anti-European slogans are louder, the political scene is more polarised. Surveys shows that this polarisation makes the interest in elections relatively high. There is hope for a higher turnout. At the same time, acute disputes will hinder the constructive cooperation of the new European Parliament. It is certain that it will be more fragmented. The question of how exactly the political groups will be formed after the elections remains open. They will be answered only weeks after the voting days. It will also be then that support for the future head of the European Commission will be discussed.
One week after the elections, together with experts from Denmark, Germany and Italy, we will analyse the results of the vote and their consequences for future cooperation in the European Parliament and for the future of Europe.
We would like to invite you to the next debate in the series "Questions about Europe"
