Towards family foster care for children
Project: "Towards family foster care for children" (leading project)
Project director: Dr Mariola Racław-Markowska
Project coordinator: Kamila Hernik
The aim of this project is to popularise the extra-institutional forms of foster care for children and the process of change in the profile of children's homes, as well as to limit the number of children and their length of stay in these places. In 2005 the work of the SPP concentrated on conducting an information and awareness-raising campaign on the problems of family-based forms of childcare through the organisation of a series of topical seminars. Within the framework of this project empirical research was also conducted, the aim of which was to examine the lives of children living in children's homes, and to assess the role of various institutions participating in this process.
The project will conclude with an all-Poland conference in which the results of the research, conclusions and recommendations on the functioning of the children's and families' assistance system will be presented. The project will also result in two book publications.
Status of the project: continuing
