Hiszpańska spółdzielczość ma bogatą historię, zwłaszcza w takich regionach autonomicznych jak Kraj Basków czy Andaluzja. Kultury spółdzielczości nie złamały nawet zmiany ustroju i kryzysy ekonomiczne, przez jakie przechodził ten kraj, a dziś ponownie obserwujemy tam rozkwit form spółdzielczych. Autorka charakteryzuje tę kulturę i omawia podstawowe współczesne formy spółdzielczego gospodarowania w Hiszpanii. Przybliża m.in. Mondragón Corporación Cooperativa - baskijską korporację spółdzielni, która cieszy się niesłabnącą międzynarodową sławą i jednocześnie stanowi największą grupę spółdzielczą w Hiszpanii. Sukces oraz filozofia spółdzielczości Mondragón jest do dziś ważną inspiracją dla sektora ekonomii społecznej. Na przykładzie Andaluzji Autorka pokazuje zwrot w kierunku spółdzielczości, obserwowany od lat 80. XX wieku, także w innych regionach autonomicznych Hiszpanii. Przedsiębiorczość społeczna stała się bowiem oddolną reakcją na zjawiska strukturalnego bezrobocia i niestabilności zatrudnienia.

The Social Enterprise Culture in Spain - Traditions of the Autonomous Regions

The cooperative movement in Spain has a rich history, particularly in the autonomous regions such as the Basque Provinces or Andalusia. Even the dramatic changes of political systems and the economic crises experienced by Spain did not seriously undermine its cooperative culture, and cooperative forms are once again in full bloom there. The author presents a characterisation of this culture and discusses the basic forms of contemporary cooperative management in Spain. One of the examples cited by her is the Mondragón Corporación Cooperativa, a Basque association of cooperatives which is the largest cooperative organisation in all of Spain (and the object of much international esteem). The philosophy of the Mondragón cooperative movement and the success into which it has been translated continues to be a major inspiration for the social economy sector. Andalusia, meanwhile, is taken as an example of the turn towards cooperatives in evidence as of the 1980s in Spain's autonomous regions, with social entrepreneurship adopted as a strategy for dealing with structural unemployment and instability in the job market at the grassroots level.
