The Institute of Public Affairs (IPA) is a non-governmental and non-partisan public policy think-tank. The IPA conducts research, prepares expert opinions and policy recommendations concerning a number issues important for public life. The results of research projects are published in the form of books, reports, policy briefs as well as short analyses in the “Analyses and Opinions” series. The activities of the Institute are structured within the framework of 4 specialist programmes: the European Programme, the Social Policy Programme, the Migration and Eastern Policy Programme and the Citizen and Law Programme. We cooperate with a number of experts and researchers from both Polish and foreign research and academic centres.
The scope of Institute activities includes issues such as:
European and Foreign policy, Transatlantic relations, EU institutions, EU enlargements, the Lisbon Treaty, Common Agricultural Policy, European Social Model, European Neighbourhood Policy, Lisbon Strategy, structural funds/regional policy
Social entrepreneurship, situation of non-governmental organisations, labour market, social dialogue, industrial relations, trade unions, social marginalisation, educational inequalities, social assistance, social work, disabled people, status of women/family policy, demographic problems.
- Migration and Development Policy Programme
Migration policy, economic migration, emigration of Poles, visa and consular policy, border control and implementation of the Schengen acquis, integration of foreigners in Poland, racism and xenophobia, democracy promotion, collaboration with the think tanks from Eastern and Central Europe.
- Law and Democratic Institutions Programme
Quality of Polish democracy, political scene, political system, stimulation of citizens participation, constitution of the Republic of Poland, electoral law, funding of politics, lobbying, fighting corruption.
